Privacy
This service tells you the public IP address your connection arrives from, its approximate location and your internet provider. This page says what it records while doing so.
What is recorded
For every request the server records: your IP address, the time, the address and path that were requested, the response status, and three headers your browser or app sends (User-Agent, Accept-Language, Referer). The content of requests, query strings and cookies are not recorded. An IP address is personal data.
Why
To run the service, to find and fix faults, and to protect it: addresses that scan for vulnerabilities or flood the service are blocked automatically, and the record is how such decisions are made and reviewed.
How long
Records are kept without a fixed time limit. You can ask for the records of your IP address to be deleted; see below.
Who else receives it
Nobody. Your location and provider are looked up in a database file stored on this server; your IP address is not sent to any third-party service. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
Cookies
Pages may set one security cookie that protects forms against forged requests; it is not stored or logged on the server and is not used to recognise you. A second cookie is set only if you choose a language yourself; it remembers that choice. The address lookup used by the app (/api/ip) sets no cookie at all. Sign-in cookies exist only for the administrator.
The Android app
The app asks this service for your address when you open or refresh it, which is recorded as described above. It reads your device's local network addresses to show them to you; they never leave the device. The app stores nothing and contains no advertising or analytics software.
Your rights
You can ask what is recorded about an IP address you use, and ask for it to be deleted.
